KAO-POTAMIA — Ancient Words on Modern Clay

This piece belongs to KAO-POTAMIA, our collection inspired by the world's first writing system, born in Mesopotamia thousands of years ago. Every cuneiform mark is carved into the wet clay by hand, so the surface carries a genuinely ancient feeling without ever becoming a replica.

The double-handle silhouette gives the vessel a sculptural, almost architectural presence. It is shaped and carved from 1st-class, high-fired stoneware, then finished in a warm white glaze with earthy neutral tones that sit quietly in modern, minimalist and wabi-sabi interiors alike.

Use it as an elegant water pitcher on your dining table, as a watertight vase for fresh or dried flowers, or simply as a standalone statement piece on a console, shelf or bookcase.

Every vessel is carved entirely by hand, so no two are ever identical — which is why you get to pick yours. As soon as your order arrives, I send you a message with photos and a 360° video of each KAO-POTAMIA pitcher currently on my studio shelf, and you simply tell me which one you would like. If I don't hear back from you, I choose the piece I find the most beautiful of the batch and send it out right away, so your order is never held up.

Hand wash with a soft sponge to preserve the carved surface. Not recommended for dishwasher, microwave or oven.

The KAO-POTAMIA cuneiform concept is designed and produced exclusively by Kaolyn Ceramics — in our own studio, shaped and carved by our own hands. If you come across this design offered by another seller, it does not come from our studio, and we cannot stand behind its origin or its quality.

GOOD TO KNOW
Is it really watertight? Yes. The piece is high-fired and glazed, so you can fill it with water for flowers or serve from it.
How is it packed? In a custom-designed box with protective padding, ready to be gifted as it is.
What if it arrives damaged? Send me a photo in a message and I will make it right.
